Is this link safe? Link safety checker

This tool looks up the link you paste in Google Safe Browsing. If Google has flagged the address for phishing, malware or unwanted software, the result is “unsafe”. Use it before you tap delivery, bank, prize or campaign links that arrive by SMS, e-mail or WhatsApp. The link is not opened; only the address is compared with Google’s list.

How to check if a link is safe

  1. Do not tap the suspicious link; long-press it and copy it.
  2. Paste it into the box above and press Submit.
  3. If the result is “unsafe”, do not open the page; if it is “safe”, still run the checks below.

Even when the result is “safe”

  • Read the domain letter by letter: a single changed character in a known brand name is a classic sign of a fake site.
  • See where short links (bit.ly etc.) really go first: URL redirect checker.
  • The padlock (https) only means the connection is encrypted; it does not prove the site is genuine.
  • Never enter passwords or card details on a page you reached from a message link; open the official app or type the address yourself.

Link safety FAQ

How can I tell if a link is safe?

Check it here against Google Safe Browsing without opening it, then check the spelling of the domain and where short links finally lead.

Does “safe” mean the link is definitely safe?

No. It means the address is not on Google’s list of known threats. Brand-new fake sites may not be listed yet, so also check the domain and what the page asks for.

Is the link opened during the check?

No. The tool does not open or download the page; it only compares the address with the Google Safe Browsing list.

Is the link safety checker free?

Yes. It is free and needs no account.
